  • Bicycle lessons

Achintya began riding the 2 wheel bicycle when he was little over four. That is great development over myself. I rode bicycle for the first time when I was in the seventh standard. Two weeks ago we bought him a new bicycle - a bigger one with 20" wheels- on his 6th birthday.

As bicycles for kids go this one came with two support wheels. For about 3 days he rode the bicycle with passion. One the fourth evening, I went downstairs with a set of spanners to remove the support wheels. He was not confidant that he could ride without the support wheels. However, I was. It was a great feeling to teach him to balance the bicycle and coach him to enable him ride it without the support wheels.

It took him precisely fifteen minutes to learn how to ride without the support wheels. As things went all his little buddies mastered the art on Achintya's new bike in no time at all.

I spent an hour with him to teach him ride bicycle without support. This was perhaps one of the best hours of my life yet.

  • Better late than never...

It's been over 3 years since I wrote my last blog on this site and I even forgot about it! My son is now a little under six. We are also in a different city now. He is studying in 1st grade now. He's been suffering from cough for quite some time. We tried several doctors before going to this pediatrician. He examined my son meticulously, I'd never seen any doctor examining so thoroughly - he asked my son to open his mouth wide and saw inside, he inspected his ears, tapped on his chest, back, stomach etc.
In the end, this doctor declared that there was nothing wrong with my son after seeing the blood report and the X ray. However, prescribed some tablets which we later found out to be humble calcium doses. However, he was very serious when prescribing these. He did not address me or my wife, he looked at my son and told him to abstain from all junk food and candies and to stick to home cooked food. Else, the doc told my son, he would be constrained to injecting in his throat. I am not sure that my son believed that. Anyway, let me hope the cough disappears.

  • To begin with

In this blog I will try to reveal the nuances and travails of parenthood. Parenthood is an onerous task and should be undertaken only consciously and with an absolute resolve.
